Been a while since the last update. I've been very busy with The PCM Resource Center. Been doing lots of hacking and stuff. I also ran 13.6@98 NA on a 1.7 60'. That was still only spinning the engine to 5950. I should be able to hit 13.4 NA revving higher with some slight tweaking. I ran 13.6 without knock sensors. I still have a major issue there. I'll be switching to a 98 PCM and harness soon to utilize the better false knock detection the 98 PCM has over the 97's. I also plan to blow this engine up on nitrous going for low 11's. I'll be throwing a 3.23 rear end in and will weld the open carrier to make it a spool. I have an extra engine that will be strictly NA. Once this engine blows up I'll be out of the power adder race. Next engine I would like to get 12's NA out of. Setup will have a bigger NA cam and a bigger stall and perhaps even more weight reduction.

Heads & Cam have been installed. Before the install I went to the track and ran a 14.076@94.11 on a 1.802 60'. After the install, the car now has serious tuning issues. In the lower RPM's, I get major knock retard. This severly hurts my launches now. I definately have a lot of tuning work to do to the car now, partly because of the ported throttle body. Even so, I went to the track this past saturday. The car was all over the place, low 14's, low 15's, high 14 back to low 14's and finally 13's. All this with fluctuating O2's and a max of 20 degrees of advance. With tuning I believe the car is capable of 13.6's at 98 mph on a 1.7 60'. Also, just for kicks... When I ran 12.3 on nitrous, the best I could do that day all motor was 14.5. The car could definately run 11's on a small TNT 100 shot now. I'm in no rush to spray though. I'll probably just relax a little with the car now and run some more #'s in the fall.

I did some work to the website. I removed some extra pics to save space and reorganized. I also brought back the mods description page. It seems that many people actually found them helpful so I will go over each mod again and give better descriptions about them. It also seems that many people do not believe 12.3 was with stock heads/cam and only a 100 shot. So in the contents page (to the left) I've decided to add a page devoted to each one of my current records.

This is probably the best news update ever for me. This past Sunday I ran 14.295@92.22 on a 1.833 60' Naturally Aspirated. And two Sundays ago, I ran 12.394@104.91 on a 1.681 60' with a 100 shot of nitrous. I ran both of those times with open exhaust. I even cut my best 60' all motor (1.830) with no muffler so that tells ya a little about backpressure. The day I ran my nitrous times, I did some testing with an off-road pipe vs open y-pipe. Running open y-pipe was worth .2 and 2mph. From now on I won't be running a muffler at the track. I reached both of my goals for this year so I will be taking it easy. I plan to focus more on NA times for the next year so the nitrous kit is coming off. I have already bought a MAFT+ and a 3.73 rear end. I *might* be able to hit 13's NA with stock heads/cam but it's goin to take some serious tuning. I have also done lots of heads/cam research and have decided to go with Supersix heads milled .020" over and a Comp Cams custom grind.

Updated the mods page once again. I also went to the track last Saturday and ran some new bests. 14.32@92 on a 1.844 60' naturally aspirated and 13.33@88 on nitrous just coasting after the 1/8'th. My converter is a great NA converter but a terrible power adder converter. As soon as I hit the nitrous, my rpm's jumped up to 5500 and I need to shift the car WAY early to keep from bouncing off the limiter. To do this I used the SCU and shifted my speedo by 40% or so. Because of this, I hit the top speed limiter at the 1/8th mile and had to let off. I'll figure something out before I spray again. It definately has low to mid 12's in the car if I could stay in it. I ran 2 14.3 passes that day. I was only at the track for an hour or so and just rattled them off. I feel the car definately has 14.2 NA capability and will be shooting for that this weekend. Thats all for now. Stay tuned... :)

Time for an update. I fixed my fuel pressure issue (dying fuel stock pump) by swaping in a Walbor 255 pump. I am VERY happy with it. I have good fuel pressure at WOT (50psi) and will spray the car very soon. I bought a set of Weld Pro Star 15x8's and slapped some Nitto 275/50/15 555R's on them. Very pleased with that setup as well. For my nitrous setup, I have decided to go with the dual fogger TNT setup. I feel with the dual fogger setup I will get better atomization and a more equal cylinder distribution. I mounted foggers in the TB in front of the blade. One shoots over it, and one under it. I have also decided to take the route that many of the TOP NA guys have taken and went with a 2.5" off-road pipe for track use only. I do notice a little less low end torque, but I also definately noticed that the power does not fall off past 5700 RPM's like it used to. I'll hit the track VERY soon (few days probably) to test out all the new mods to the car and get a baseline with a 75 shot. I also updated my mods page (its getting really big).

I've updated the web page once again. I put back up my mods page. I had it removed because I wasn't sure if I would street race the car or just go for the records. I'm going for the records. Huge thanks to John (SixVi6) for hosting the Mv6FBA mod fest! I was able to get my BMR LCA's and poly torque arm bushing done. I was also able to do the rear sway bar end links. I also tried to swap the stock FPR for the stock GTP FRP, but because the GTP FPR is too large, I was unable to do the swap. It was a pain to get the stock FPR off let me tell you! John (SixVi6) and Dom (V6Power) were the ones who did my torque arm bushing while I was working on the FPR. They were under the car for hours. Huge thanks to both of you! I really owe you guys.
I still have to work out my fuel pressure issue before I can spray the car and make some new records. :) The car is almost done though. :)

I went to the track this past Sunday and ran a new best of 14.403@93.16! :) I ran 9 14.4 second passes that day! :) I was very impressed with the car that day. The odd thing is, I spent almost all of the night before installing the MSD DIS-4 and it showed NO gains at the track. In fact, I ran my best times with it bypassed. I also ran those killer times with huge snow tires on the front of the car! I will be buying Weld Pro Star skinnies and 15x8's for the car VERY soon. 14.2 is very likely and a 13.9 pass would ROCK. I'm very happy with the car now. It's FLYING! :)
I also did one pass with the lock up switch. I can't determin if the switch helped me or not because it was a pass with the worst 60' of the day. Next time at the track I will do more lock up switch testing. I'll probably go back in a couple weeks or so.

Well, if your a regular view of my site, you've probably noticed I have been having some problems with it lately. The server crashed and I had no recent backups. The last one I had was from early December. I think I am caught up with all the changes I have made to the site since then. I still do have to get the counter cgi to work on the main page.I installed a sub in the car! I put a JL 10w6 in a Stealth Box powered by a Rockford Fosgate 250a2. My system is REALLLY loud. It definitely completes the 500w 10 speaker monsoon system the firebirds have. GREAT clear mids and highs with the sub to fill in the bass.
I also plan to spray my car in the summer. It should do very well but for one thing. Since I am already stalling at around 3200 rpm's, I figure on spray I will be around a 4000 stall. I might go with a taller tire. I was recommended to go with a 28" tire but I think that may be too tall. NA is still my number 1 priority right now. I really plant o run a 14.3 Naturally Aspirated.
O, I forgot to mention. Somebody hit my car! Friday night it was snowing real bad and somebody backed into my car when it was parked on the side of the street. They hit the driver side door and cracked it pretty bad. The fiberglass is cracked from the bottom of the door up to the handle. When the car is in for a new door, I'll probably have the car repainted and have stripes or flames put on. Something unique.

Blamo! I bought a DIS-4 for $265 on EBay and ordered 3 CIU's from Summit for $24.99. They had 2 in stock and put the third one on back order. I should receive the 2 any time this week. I also have a set of copper NGK plugs in the mail. They are supposed to perform better than platinums. I also removed the IAT resistor. Its so cold outside its probably not needed. And the kicker.... The PI Torque converter is back in the car!! Its a #8 pump and I'm stalling somewhere around 2800/3000. I borrowed a friends autotap to get a more accurate measure. As soon as I put the MSD DIS-4 on the car my bolt-on stage will be complete. The only thing left for me to do is buy Weld Pro Stars and run some drag radials and skinnies at the track for a low 14 second NA time. The tracks probably won't be open till spring though so I have to wait.

Updated the website yet again. I added an MFBA and Mv6FBA pics section. I also ran my car on a dyno. It kinda sucked because my speed limiter was kicking in at 4800 RPM's in third. Thats because my car came with 3.08's and I put 3.42's in there and never fixed the speedometer. At 4800 rpm's I was showing 171rwhp and still climbing. They Dyno guy said I would probably peak at 176rwhp. I also made 199rwtq. I had the IAT resister in at the time amd I'm guessing that I might have made more power without it. I read of a v6 who lost 5rwhp with the IAT resistor. No biggie though.

My website has been updated. The images now work for those still using Netscape. I also added more description to the mods page. I removed the front sway bar on my car. I also went to the track with the stock converter, Ran some 15.0's but no 14's. I have yet to send the PI converter back to PI but I plan to ASAP. I am dynoing the car tomorrow. I will be happy with 190RWHP. But we'll see. Tom (Bird_Of_Prey) will also be dynoing his car with the KN9 factory option (K&N). Thats what he likes to think actually.
We had a good V6 turnout at the track on the 4'th. Tom (Bird_Of_Prey) managed to pull another 14.9 with just a K&N and a Simon (FireBird2k) pulled a 15.0. The most amazing V6 was John (SixVi6). With his N2O'd 3.4 he managed to pull a 14.4! That is great for his mods! His car will hit 13's next year I'm sure of it. The Mv6FBA is doing great. All of our times are getting better and better!

Well, the PI converter is out of the car. I am sending it back to Precision Industries to have it loosened up. Its flashing around 2500 and thats not high enough for me. They will increase it 400 rpm's. I also had my headers welded (primaries to the y-pipe). There was a small leak and I just got sick and tired of the warped flanges. They are welded shut now and don't leak at all. The car sounds AWESOME now! I love it. I have my B&B Tri-Flo tone back. The MFBA is also going down to US 41 this saturday. I'll get some more passes in with the stock converter.
10-14-2000
My Transmission is finished. For now. The converter is flashing around 2400 rpm's I think. I seemed to have gained .1 in the 1/4 and lost 1 mph. I think I need the converter loosened a bit. The Servo is working fine. The servo combined with the TransGo shift kit gives me nice firm shifts and that o so sweet 1-2 chirp. I'm gonna hit the track on tuesday to see if I can better my new best.
10-7-2000
I am now in the 14's! I ran a 15.2 3 days ago. Since then I put the muffler back on. I put my MAF screen back in (3/5 of it actually). Cleared that SES light. I also did the IAT resistor mod. Yesterday at the track I hit the 14's twice with a 14.959 @ 90.52 and 14.995 @ 90.40! My goal was to get to the 14's before I put the converter in there and I made it! Converter should be in the car within the next week.
10-4-2000
I took the muffler off about 3 weeks ago. It sounds real nice at low rpm's. It sounds like CRAP above 4200 RPM's. On the street I never go above 3500 RPM's anymore. I am pretty much forced to drive it nicely. I went to the track yesterday and finally was able to do some WOT with the car. It sounded like crap but I did run a 15.26. I was hoping to be in the 14's with the cool night air but I guess it was a little humid and the loss of back pressure didn't help. I am working very hard on getting the information for the servo swap cause I would like that damn torque converter in the car ASAP! O yea, as for MPG with the -MUFFLER mod, I log every gas fillup and I think I'm getting approx -1 MPG. I did NOT lose TONS of MPG like some people claim.
9-13-2000
I found out that my car only misfires on startup. More so on a cold startup. Its a perfectly normal misfire though. When the car is warmed up it runs perfectly. I am still throwing lean codes at idle though. Most likely because of the !MAF Screen mod. I also have a install date for the Torque Converter, Shift Kit and Tranny Cooler in 2 weeks. We are also going to do the v8 servo. If your wondering about the part numbers for the servo, I have no idea what they are. He is THE local f-body transmission specialist and knows what to do. This web site is also nearing completion. The mods could use more descriptions but that's about it. I also have more pictures and vids to put up, but that's not first priority.
9-11-2000
Well, I AutoTap'd my car. Its throwing 2 lean codes (probably because of the !MAF Screen) and is also misfireing. It seems to misfire once a second when driving and twice a second when idling. I think it may be related to my o2 sensors. I'm still trying to learn what the numbers the AutoTap is showing me really mean.

Web site is up. Its not done but it's up.
